Choosing a memorial is rarely the first thing a family has to deal with after a bereavement. On this page you will find information about the funeral directors we work alongside, the trade associations that govern our work, and the bereavement support organisations that may be able to help you or someone you know.

Trade Associations
Our work is governed by the standards set by the two principal trade associations for memorial masons in the United Kingdom. Membership of both organisations is a mark of competence, professionalism, and commitment to safe working practice.
BRAMM
Morpeth, Ashington, Blyth, Hexham
BRAMM is the industry standard for memorial masons in the United Kingdom. Accredited masons are assessed on their technical competence, health and safety practices, and commitment to quality. All BRAMM-registered masons are approved to work in local authority cemeteries.
NAMM
National Association of Memorial Masons
NAMM is the leading trade association for the memorial masonry industry in the UK. Members are required to adhere to the NAMM Code of Working Practice, which sets out the standards for the safe installation of memorials in cemeteries. All our installations comply fully with the NAMM Code.

When you choose a BRAMM-registered or NAMM-member mason, you can be confident that your memorial will be installed safely, to a recognised standard, and that the mason is approved to work in your local authority cemetery. Many councils will only permit installations by registered masons — we handle all of this on your behalf.

Local Authority Bereavement Departments
Each local authority manages its own cemeteries and bereavement services. These departments handle grave ownership records, memorial permits, and general enquiries about cemetery regulations. We liaise directly with all of the following on your behalf.

Bereavement Support
Grief is one of the most difficult experiences a person can face. The following organisations offer free, confidential support — whether you need someone to talk to, practical help, or information about what to do after a death.
Samaritans
Available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. If you are struggling to cope, please call or email — they are there to listen without judgement.
Cruse Bereavement Support
The UK’s leading bereavement charity, offering free support, advice, and information to children, young people, and adults when someone dies.
The Bereavement Register
Helps to stop the flow of unwanted post addressed to someone who has died. Registering a name removes it from mailing lists, reducing the distress of receiving post in a loved one’s name.
Tell Us Once
A government service that allows you to report a death to most government organisations in one go — including HMRC, DWP, DVLA, and the Passport Office.
Child Bereavement UK
Supports families and educates professionals when a baby or child of any age dies or is dying, or when a child is facing bereavement. Helpline, online support, and local services available.
WAY Widowed & Young
A peer-to-peer support group for men and women who are widowed under the age of 51. Offers a network of local groups, online support, and social events.
Age UK
Offers bereavement support and practical advice for older people, including help with loneliness, financial matters, and accessing local services after a bereavement.
Mind
Provides information and support for people experiencing mental health problems, including grief and bereavement. Local Mind services are available across the North East.
